This Golden Eagle nest is located in Whychus Creek Canyon in Oregon. This is an HD cam and an Ad Free site and looks great! I haven't been able to find out a lot of info about this pair so far but I did watch some last year and know that they successfully fledged 2 eaglets.
They have 2 eggs in the nest again this year. I don't know the Eagles names, dates the eggs were laid, etc., ....yet. I'm sure we'll jump in this and start digging out info like we always do and will know all this and more in no time flat.

Here is the link to the cam.
http://www.goldeneaglecam.com/

There are other links and info at the top of their cam page including daily time lapse videos, picture gallery, etc.
Info in chat says that the cam is 1100' across a 300' deep canyon and at certain times of the day the heat rises from the canyon floor and causes the pic to be blurry. Not much they can do about that but the pic is a huge improvement compared to the view last year and looks fantastic right now.
This one should be fun for us to watch and learn something new.

I got a few more pics and think I see which one is male and female based on their size when they did a nest duty switch. Of course I could be wrong about that, too.

I asked about the eggs, history of the pair, etc., in their chat and got this answer:

KellyinRedmond: Patti, Two were laid. I believe one was laid on March 23rd, the other March 25th. As for the history on this pair I do not know, but it would be nice to be able to find out

So Patti, from reading some of the posts in that forum, their names are Rocky (dad) & Petra is mom. It also says on Feb 23 Petra began her sit and that dad comes by with food & will sit some too. If this is true that she had laid eggs, they should be hatching any time now. Chat said chicks should hatch around 1st week in April. Great find Patti, so we can get some info on this pair.

That must be wrong on the egg dates. One chatter told me they were laid March 23rd and 25th (see my post above) so that means we've got a long way to go. I wish we could find out more about them but so far I've had no luck.
Here's a couple of pics I took today.

This was on the Golden Eagle Chat this morning..
Janetzuelke: Hey all...working on the site content...The history here is that we have been filming these eagles (same pair) for the last four years. This is the fourth season. They currently have two eggs. They were laid on Feb 23 and 25. We should see chicks by April 4-7. The first year we had two chicks and at 5 weeks one fell out and died. Then in 2011 we had two chicks and both fledged. Last year 2012 there were two chicks and both fledged again.

GREAT to have this info Peg! Thank you so much for posting it. I had seen these same days for egg laying but the info I had said March! It's a whole new ballgame if they are going to hatch NEXT WEEK! Woo Hooooo! Should be an awesome view with this cam, too. Can't wait!

SC you were right! Your chatter was better than my chatter . LOL

Here's more info on their cam and site.
Janetzuelke: We are using a Meade telescope with an outdoor security camera with it's own computer chip in it. We are 1100 feet away from the nest across a 300 ft deep canyon. The wavy air you sometimes see are the thermals coming off the ground between the camera and the nest.
Janetzuelke: I really want to encourage everyone to support this camera with a donation of whatever amount you can. This property where the nest is located is a protected site that still needs resources to pay off and care for. Go to the Wolftree website and find out all you need to know about Wolftree and the great work they do for kids here in Central Oregon. This is the ONLY wild Golden Eagle nest being filmed like this in North America and it costs money to set it up and provide it to you and the many school classrooms that are streaming it...please help us keep it going if you can. THANKS!!!

Here's something you don't get to see very often. Here's a Golden Eagle's tongue.

This video was posted in the WolfTree Chat this morning. Now we can fall in love with the GE's and these two guys that bring us the cam.
http://www.ktvz.com/news/Golden-Eagle-cam-gives-insight-into-birds-life/-/413192/19521308/-/1dmhcx/-/index.html
These guys need donations to help them keep the cam going so if you have any extra money you need to get rid of this would be a good place to send it. They have a donation button on their website. http://www.goldeneaglecam.com/
I took some snips from the video. I'll post a few here and put the rest in our picture gallery.

I leaned in several times this afternoon waiting for a peek. No matter how high I get in my chair I still can't see in there.

It's 6:59 p.m. in Oregon. This snip may be the last one of Petra in her mother-to-be state. I thought she looked rather "Madonna-like" with her wings lifted about her. She may be protecting the first hatchling.
