There was a lot of excitement at Cornell U today. The ground videographer Ferris just happened to be there today so he took his cam with the super zoom to find D1. This is the video that was posted this evening.

D3 was alone in the nest today during a rain shower. The cam operators had a view of Weill hall with D1 perched on the roof. They said that BigRed was trying to show D1 how to fly back to the nest. D2 ( I will call her Lilac) likes to sit in the lilac bushes and wait out the rain. The pros at Cornell seem to expect them to come back to the nest.

I'm so darned proud..... I could just cry!! That's exactly what they're supposed to do!!!

This morning the drama at Cornell continues. D2 is still waiting and calling for food in the tree across the road from the nest. She has tried her wings a few times and ended up on a car and on a transformer and on the ground below the nest. I don't think she quite knows how the wing thing works. D1 flew back to the nest for food this morning after being out all night, and D3 hasn't done any more than check out the runway. BigRed and D1 are trying to coax D2 to the nest while D3 just sits and takes it all in. She knows where the food lands.

One of the mods at Cornell posted this illustration/map of how well used the campus is by this RedTailHawk family. D3 still seems unsure about the flight thing.

This new Nestcam Landmark's and Blindspots was posted by 'midamref' at Cornell today. I wonder how long it will take for the hawks to find the Poultry Barns.
