Hagar and Helga are a pair of wild Great Horned Owls. Last week they showed up at the aviaries where Rusty and Iris the Great Horned Owls live and since then they have been coming back every night.
Rusty and Iris the Great Horned Owls are part of a breeding project on their species to study their vocalizations being conducted by the International Owl Center.

The 10 month old Great Horned Owls Rupert and Ruby are part of a vocal study on their species. They were bred in captivity and are being raised to be educational ambassadors by the International Owl Center. Here they are pestering each other, the sounds they make are called "annoyed chitters"

Almost 11 months old Ruby and Rupert the Great Horned Owls are part of a vocal study on their species. They were bred in captivity and are being raised to be educational ambassadors by the International Owl Center. In this video you can see how Ruby feels threatened by a dog walking by and goes into concealment posture. She makes herself very tall and skinny by compacting her feathers and raising her ear-tufts. In this posture owls try to keep one wing facing what’s scaring them rather than their front, and you can see Ruby do exactly that.
